About Me
I always hate writing these ‘About Me’ things. When I do, they usually end up sounding either like a resume, or like a big ‘look at me!’ This one will be different. I’ll actually tell you something about myself.
I am a guy in my 30s, married with 4 kids. I am very active in our Church (shout out to the folks at First Alpharetta) where I teach 7th grade boys’ Sunday School. In the time I have left, I coach youth sports, blog and Twitter (more of the latter and not enough of the former) and try to dodge political discussions. I also help run the Christian Entertainment and Community site The Christian Pulse.
There’s also the work I do for the Atlanta chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. There, I am 2nd VP and Program Committee Manager, so if you are a speaker in the Tech Comm or Internet arena and want to speak in ATL, drop me an email. Also with the STC: I volunteer with the TechComm Summit (the international convention) acting as the Track Coordinator and Pub Crawl organizer/bouncer/baby sitter.
Professionally, I am a User Experience Manager. Basically I design web sites and software applications so users can actually use them. I went to the University of South Carolina where I received a degree in Creative Writing, preparing me perfectly for the life of a starving artist. Fortunately, at the same time I was secretly interning at a high-tech firm and learning the ways of the dark side. Ever since, I’ve been a Technical Communicator, UI designer, Usability …person, and one of the few who can effectively communicate with both the development and marketing teams.
Oh yeah. And I also play video games. Lots of video games.
