Fall Means Football!

Things are going to be slow-going for a while with this blog. I am coaching youth football again, and our season is in full swing. So far, the 5/6 Sharon Springs War Eagles are doing well, but only time will tell how the season will go. No injuries so far, and the young players are starting to really step up.
This is my son’s first year playing, and I know he is having a blast. He is a big boy for his age (like he could help it, what with his breeding and all) and is doing good up against the experienced players. Yes, here in Forsyth county, we let 5 year olds play tackle football. Some people may think it is crazy, but it isn’t any worse than them playing soccer or any other sport. Sure there is a lot of physical contact and aggression, but it gives them a way to channel frustration that they feel with their lives changing from being very young children to grade-schoolers. My son is much more even-keeled since he started playing, and I’ve heard similar from other parents.
With baby number 4 coming early next year, I have a lot of work to do around the house. That means the video games will be slower to be played, and the blog posts will be slower in the making.
Go War Eagles West!
