Finally. There is a date on the table and it is just when most people thought it would be. Unfortunately, the Beta period is rather short itself, but not short enough to deter me from spending as much time as possible playing it. I wonder if I can talk my wife into cancelling our trip we have planned for Memorial Day.

According to this post on Bungie.net, the Halo 3 beta is being released to those who are on the list or who have bought Crackdown on May the 16th. The beta period will run to June 6th and will consist of three multiplayer maps and an unknown amount of game variants.

I have not seen it yet, but there is a video on the site that shows some game play and what the mysterious X button does. I’ll wait until I get home to see it, but I’ve heard it is pretty good…and amazing quality for a beta game.

I’m in a fairly good mood today, and this just brightened it up a few more notches. On the down side, I will be out of town until the 17th of May, so I have to miss a precious day of the 3 week beta. At this point, I don’t think I will be able to change my plans, and I’m not taking my 360 to Minneapolis with me. I took my Xbox to Seattle a couple of years ago, but playing online in a hotel is nearly impossible. Not to mention that I was incessantly picked on for taking it.

If you’re not on the beta list, go pick up a copy of Crackdown. I’m sure GameStop or some other retail outlet has a copy for you still. It’s a good game, so you won’t hate spending the money for it.
