Halo 3 Beta Delayed?
Bungie announced more information about the Halo 3 beta today. It seems that if you haven’t been contacted by now, it is too late to get involved…unless you buy Crackdown.
The one bit of information that they added was that the Crackdown beta testing wasn’t ready yet, and it would be sometimes this spring before it would be ready.
Huh?
Ok, don’t get me wrong. I understand the whys, but why didn’t they say something about this earlier? Why wait until 4 days before Crackdown releases to say, ‘Sure you’ll have the beta invite but you won’t be able to do anything with it for a while. ‘ Hrm. Sounds like they either found some problems in the previous beta builds of the game, or they are starting to back-pedal from the whole ‘Buy Crackdown just for the beta’ hype. Make it seem like you don’t really care about those beta testers and then people won’t fuss at you for making them buy a crappy game to test your software.
And of course, I don’t know if Crackdown is good or not at this point. I saw the first TV spots for the game this week and even if I hadn’t pre-ordered it, I would have at least rented it (thanks Blockbuster Online!) Am I the only one who was surprised by this? I was hoping to be pwning n00bs by next weekend, and now it looks like I’ll actually have to play Crackdown instead.
