My Gamer Tag: Ninety Seven

Gamer Tags. It’s the name that we are known by in the Xbox Live world, but is it something more? By tapping into someone’s gamer tag origins, will we find out something important about their inner being? Will we find out that they are just uncreative slobs who enter the first thing they can think of?

My Xbox Live Gamer Tag is Ninety Seven. I go by the moniker/number 97 on forum posts and Ninety7even on Yahoo and AOL instant messenger. If you need someone to help get you into some fun games online with your Xbox, send me a friend request. If I don’t have any room, send me a note and I’ll try to trim the list down to fit you in.

EDIT: I now go by Ninety7 on Twitter. Ninety-Seven was too long.

The question I always get is, ‘Where did you get your Gamer Tag?’ Actually, some of the more ‘witty’ people say, “Dur…are you 97 years old? Ha ha.” No, that doesn’t irritate me at all… Anyway, I chose 97 as my tag because it is a number that has always come up in my life. It started in college when I was initiated into my fraternity as number 997, and wore the number 97 on my intramural jerseys for 3 years. I was married in 1997, the street address of our first house was 197, and when I played semi-pro football for a season (until my back made me stop) I wore number 97. Back in the day, my online name was Rhyno97. I didn’t want a mixed name like that when I made my Xbox GT, so I shortened it to Ninety Seven.

It isn’t a particularly cool name, but it is mine. I like it and hope that I don’t get banned for any reason and have to lose it. That’s a joke, Microsoft. I don’t do anything with my account that would cause me to lose it. I promise.

Oh man, I hope Microsoft isn’t like the IRS. If you joke around about an audit, they start looking into you more closely…wait…That’s a joke, IRS. I don’t do anything with my tax returns that would warrant an audit. I promise.
