About the name, Tread Heavily

This blog is not an anti-environment rant, let me get that out of the way first. The blog is called Tread Heavily, because I am not a stealthy person. I am incapable of being subtle, sneaky, or the silent partner. God made me with a personality to be loud, happy, and passionate about just about anything I try and do. Many times this leads to grand failures and outrageous mistakes. But that’s how I live my life.

I believe that in order to make a difference in the world, you have to leave your mark even if it means messing up the environment just a little to do it. It isn’t permanent damage, but you can be sure the people that come after you know you’ve been there and can see your influence. Be it in the workplace, your community, your religion, or someone’s heart, try your best to make a difference. Tread heavily.

I believe that if you go through life lightly stepping, you’ll be forgotten as soon as you are gone.

That explains the name, so what is it about?

This blog is mainly about me and my life as the father of 4 kids. I put that first, because that really defines who I am at the core. Before I am anything else, I am a father and a husband. Sappy? I know it is, but my wife will read this, and as the father of 4 kids, I have to keep mamma happy.

Beyond that, this site is about my hobbies, my career, and the aspect of my career that I find most interesting. Social media, marketing, usability, and user interaction. On occasion, I will be throwing in some interesting reads I find here and there and will comment on entertainment, my religion, and current events.

Above all, this will be a hate and angst-free zone. Ok, maybe hate-free and angst-lite. There are too many sites that talk against things and too many bloggers who whine. There is too much love and happiness in my life for me to complain about it all the time.
